It's still there. Every word. Every photo.
Every "goodnight" and "can't wait to see you."
Just not in the main folder.
Not where I have to see it every time I open the app.
Down in Archive. Buried. Like a time capsule.
Like evidence in a case I closed but can't destroy.
Sometimes I go looking.
Scroll past years of other conversations.
Past "hey" and "how are you" and "let's grab coffee."
Until I find you. At the very bottom.
I scroll up. Slowly. From the end to the beginning.
The last messages are short. Polite. Hollow.
The middle ones are longer. Confused. Trying.
The first ones are excited. "You free Friday?" "Can't wait."
I read them all. Then close the app.
They stay in Archive. Waiting.
For what, I don't know.
Maybe for a day when I can read them and smile.
Maybe for a day when I can finally hit delete.
